The Great War

Marching into Flanders Field,

Faith and fire filled our hearts,

Lining up one by one,

Bravery fills the air,

Slate grey sky,

Soldiers suffering from shell shock,

Stomach lurching with starvation,

Gunpowder filling our lungs,

Shrouded in mist the enemies approach,

Brutal wounds inflected on our bodies,

Peace was no more,

Over the top the devil awaits,

Torture slices through our hearts,

Wounded soldiers stumbling to the ground,

Our face are shadowed with grief and misery

We will stay in your hearts as long as you remember the good things that we did

We would have died anyway for family, friends and country

Let people live amongst us forever
